Please note: As Erev Pesach falls out on Shabbat, many of the regularly scheduled events around searching for, selling, disposing, and eating of Chametz are different this year.   Saturday, April 5th Shabbat Hagadol Drasha - following Musaf (Please note: Shabbat HaGadol this year is Friday – Sat, April 11th – 12th. Most rabbis, however, give their “Shabbat HaGadol” Drasha a week early, because the actual Shabbat is erev Pesach. Part 1 - 12:30 – 1:00 PM followed by Kiddush Part 2 - 2:00 – 2:30 PM Topic to be announced   Thursday, April 10th Fast of the Firstborn Dawn (Firstborn begin fasting): 4:54 AM Siyum: 9:00 AM at the Shul Bedikat Chametz (check for the Chametz): after 7:59 PM Kol Chamirah, declaring unknown Chametz to be null and ownerless, is recited for the first time. Friday, April 11 - Erev Shabbat Burn Chametz before 11:50 AM (The second Kol Chamirah, declaring all Chametz to be null and ownerless, is NOT recited until Shabbat morning) The Sale of Chametz will also take place at this time. Please have all Chametz forms in to the Shul office by Thursday at 3:00 PM. If you were not able to submit yours, please contact the Shul office Friday morning. Please note: As Erev Pesach falls on Shabbat, all preparations needing to be made for the Seder should ideally be done before Shabbat. You may resume preparations after the conclusion of Shabbat, as allowed by Halacha (restrictions apply, please consult with the Rabbi should you have any questions or concerns.) The Schedule  9:20 pm - 9:20 pm Class Begins  10:00 pm - 10:00 pm Class Ends Daf Yomi (Hebrew: דף יומי‎, Daf Yomi, “page of the day” or “daily folio”) is a daily regimen of learning the Oral Torah and its commentaries (also known as the Gemara), in which each of the 2,711 pages of the Babylonian Talmud are covered in sequence. Under this regimen, the entire Talmud is completed, one day at a time, in a cycle of seven and a half years. Tens of thousands of Jews worldwide study in the Daf Yomi program and over 300,000 participate in the Siyum HaShas, an event celebrating the culmination of the cycle of learning. The Daf Yomi program has been credited with making Talmud study accessible to Jews who are not Torah scholars, contributing to Jewish continuity after the Holocaust, and having a unifying factor among Jews. The Schedule 10:00 pm - 10:00 pm Start 10:15 pm - 10:15 pm End Maariv or Ma’ariv (Hebrew: מַעֲרִיב, ), also known as Arvit (Hebrew: עַרְבִית, ), is a Jewish prayer service held in the evening or night. It consists primarily of the evening Shema and Amidah. The service usually begins with two verses from Psalms, followed by the communal recitation of Barechu. The three paragraphs of the Shema are then said, both preceded and followed by two blessings, although sometimes a fifth blessing is added at the end. The hazzan (leader) then recites half-Kaddish. The Amidah is said quietly by everyone, and, unlike at the other services, is not repeated by the hazzan. He recites the full Kaddish, Aleinu is recited, and the mourners’ Kaddish ends the service. Other prayers occasionally added include the Counting of the Omer (between Passover and Shavuot) and Psalm 27 (between the first of Elul and the end of Sukkot). Maariv is generally recited after sunset. However, it may be recited as early as one and a quarter seasonal hours before sunset. This is common only on Friday nights, in order to begin Shabbat earlier. At the conclusion of Shabbat and holidays, the service is usually delayed until nightfall. While Maariv should be prayed before midnight, it may be recited until daybreak or even sunrise. Interested in sponsoring/Donating?
